Welcome to the Seals
Children at Mission Nazarene Preschool benefit from a full developmental curriculum that meets their emotional, physical, social, intellectual, and spiritual needs. Our program and environment create a secure and loving atmosphere grounded in Christian principles. Our qualified educational staff provide age-appropriate activities organized around a monthly theme and interest center concept. Our music teacher introduces instruments along with new and fun songs. Our children's pastor presents an interactive chapel service once a week, which includes music and movement along with Bible story time.
Our Infant Room serves children 6 weeks to 12 months. Our infants progress into the Snails room (age 12 to 18 months) and then the Turtles room (age 18 to 24 months). Our infant program is planned around security and trust through love, comfort, consistency, and lots of hugs. Our program is designed to meet each child's needs, and planned activities help foster growth and development. Daily routines are a very important learning experience in the infant's day.
In our Infant Room, your baby will be assigned a specific caregiver. Each caregiver develops a special bond with the children, becomes acutely aware of their signals, and will meet their needs quickly. The program is designed to provide as much teacher/child contact as possible. Infants are held during bottle feedings and we encourage independence by allowing infants to feed themselves when table food is being introduced.
The entire curriculum and program of Mission Nazarene Preschool is designed to foster self-esteem and decision-making abilities that promote the development of your child. We have compiled age-appropriate lists for each stage of your child's development and included them in the corresponding classrooms. These are goals our teachers strive to achieve with your child while in the SEALS class:
At 2-6 months:
· Holding up head
· Basic signing
· Rolling over
· Sitting up
· Crawling
· Walking
· Cooing and Babbling
· At 6-9 months eating easy-to-chew food (for example: crackers, star puffs, cooked green beans). They can begin to do so even without teeth. This will help strengthen their jaws and develop their fine motor skills.
· Around 10 months they will begin to prepare to enter the Snail Room. They will gradually be weaned from the bottle and given a sippy-cup. At this time they should also begin to be fully off jar foods and on table foods. In the Snail Room the children feed themselves and do not use bottles.
· At 12 months they will officially be a big Snail and move into the Snail Room. There will be a week of visiting and then the following week they will be an official Snail.
